Welcome
Welcome to the Berea church of Christ. We hope you will be blessed by your visit with us. We believe the Bible to be the inspired Word of God and that it is our sure guide in all aspects of life. It is our goal to worship as directed by God’s Word and to teach and obey the will of God as revealed in the Bible.
Our Plea
Let us speak where the Bible speaks and be silent where the Bible is silent. Let us call Bible things by Bible names and do Bible things in Bible ways. Let’s live the ancient faith.

DAILY DEVOTIONAL ✝️
It Was The Snooze
Trish has often said that I am a fount of useless information. I have said I am a master of trivia. Neither is correct! But I do like trivia (and trivial pursuit!).
The other day I saw a blurb about the development of the modern “bedside” alarm clock. It was patented by Seth Thomas in 1876. The history of alarm clocks in general is much older than that. Ancient Greeks used water-powered devices with pebbles to create noise. Levi Hutchins built a brass alarm clock, but it was designed to ring only at 4:00 AM! I’m glad someone figured out that was not a good idea….
So although the bedside alarm clock was invented in 1876, the snooze button was not invented until 1956. The snooze button was a wonderful addition. Just press the button, and get a few more minutes of “snooze”
But religiously, it can be problematic. Spiritually, "snoozing" means ignoring God's promptings, delaying obedience, or prioritizing comfort over spiritual growth.
Ephesians 5:14 is a direct "wake up" verse: "Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you" (ESV). It calls believers to live in the light, focusing on spiritual awareness, righteousness, and making the most of every opportunity. Instead of waiting for a convenient time, believers are called to wake up, engage in daily prayer, attend church services, and embrace their purpose now. We sometimes treat the Bible’s warnings like the nudges of a snooze alarm, pushing Him away rather than responding to His guidance.
Don’t miss out! Scripture encourages believers to stop sleeping, rise, and allow Christ to the light. When the Godly alarm goes off (1st Thessalonians 5:2), don’t be caught snoozing!~jme
